Rolling Meadows is a mid-size suburb in Cook County, bordered by Arlington Heights to the north and Schaumburg to the west. The city grew fast in the 1950s and 60s, and that housing stock shows it. A lot of the single-family homes here are ranch and split-level styles built during that era, which means owners regularly deal with dated kitchens, cramped bathrooms, and unfinished basements that could be doing a lot more work. The bones are solid, but many of these homes are overdue for a real update.
The Chicago-area climate hits Rolling Meadows hard. Winters bring freeze-thaw cycles that stress foundations and tile work. Humid summers create moisture problems in basements and bathrooms that go unchecked for years. We factor all of that in when we spec materials and plan a remodel. A bathroom tile job done right for this climate is not the same as one done right for Phoenix. We've learned what holds up here and we build accordingly.
