South Barrington sits in Barrington Township, Cook County, right at the edge of the Fox River watershed. The homes here tend to be spacious and custom-built, set back on generous lots with mature trees. Many properties were built in the 1980s and 1990s, which means a lot of them are due for serious updates.
The village has no traditional downtown grid, so most addresses spread out along winding roads like Barrington Road and Algonquin Road. That layout reflects the community's character: private, quiet, and built around space rather than density. South Barrington is not our hometown.
Mt. Prospect is, sitting about 22 miles southeast. But we've worked on enough homes out here that South Barrington feels familiar. The northwest suburban climate hits hard in both directions.
Winters bring heavy freeze-thaw cycles that stress foundations, tile grout, and basement walls. Summers push heat and humidity into attics and crawlspaces. Homes in this area need materials and build methods that hold up to that range, and that's exactly how we spec our work.
